Brief
Working together with Winchester Architect, AR Design, this couple wanted an open plan kitchen, dining and living space with large windows overlooking the garden. The new area was to span the width of the back of the house with roof lights above the kitchen to ensure the middle part of the house didn’t feel too dark. Both keen cooks and entertainers it was important to have cutting edge appliances.
Challenge
Keith’s design incorporates the kitchen to link with the living area and using the same furniture within the lounge area to house their TV. This creates a smooth transition and helps give the feeling of one whole space. The clients had purchased their large American fridge freezer prior to coming to see us therefore; we skilfully designed the area to ensure it blended with the surrounding kitchen furniture.
Outcome
The new environment permits light to rebound around the room and the clients are able to cook and enjoy the views out into the room and garden. The kitchen is a much more sociable space that allows the clients to work together and interact with ease in their new kitchen. The usability and flow of the room makes the kitchen a pleasure to live, work and play in!
