Brief

This energetic couple were seeking a large kitchen-living space for entertaining and enjoying extended family time. Natural connectivity and a logical sense of flow were critical factors in bringing about the resulting design. Many configurations were considered but the final design made best use of the wall of light coming in through large glass patio doors and created four distinct but inherently linked spaces - welcome drinks; casual lounge; kitchen and dining fulfilling every need the client had for this area.

Challenge

The kitchen boasts a large bank of tall cabinets with discreet area for Blanco sink and Quooker tap. Convenience and healthy cooking played a big part in the appliance decisions for this project. The colour scheme for the kitchen-living space and bar area was discussed in great depth and the use of many different finishes, each with a harmonising tone brings a calmness and cohesion into this beautiful space.

This client wanted the roof light to sit directly above the island. As the roof light had to go in first, careful detailing of the kitchen arrangement was required to ensure sufficient room was given for the walkways and that the room symmetry and connectivity was not compromised. In addition the island required a join at the point the two different Silestone finishes met- this requires accuracy and craftsmanship, and the finished island looks and feels spectacular!

Outcome

This beautiful kitchen design fully expressed this clients personal tastes and requirements In fact they love this huge space so much that they moved the furniture from their lounge into the TV area and the main lounge has now turned into an exercise room! When I met this couple to complete the photo shoot they couldn’t say more how delighted they are with the space, flow, feel and storage of this superbly designed kitchen.
